The choir promotes up to 12 concerts each year, both locally and in other parts of the U.K., and have sung in both the USA and on mainland Europe. Quite apart from the obvious enjoyment the choir derives from singing and entertaining audiences, it is particularly proud of its record of raising many thousands of pounds for local and national charities. We have also been extremely successful in assisting organisations of all kinds to raise funds. We ask for a minimum donation of £200 for performing a concert. However, we provide 100 tickets and 25 posters for the organisation to advertise the event. If you are a fundraiser and would like the choir to put on a concert for your organisation then please contact the Secretary John Caborn on 01724 860924.
About the choir
Established in 1924, The Scunthorpe Male Voice Choir has established a tradition of male singing in North Lincolnshire which has gone from strength to strength and continues to thrive today. The modern choir has a complement of more than 40 voices and has grown into one of the leading music groups in the area.
The Choir are available for hire and provide a unique musical experience at ceremonies like Weddings and Funerals. We will be pleased to discuss your requests and to provide a booking form.
Why not come to one of our rehearsals?
We meet on Thursday evenings at 7.00 pm for 7.15 pm. at The Church of Resurrection, Mirfield Road Scunthorpe, DN15 8AN. You don’t have to be an opera singer to join, just someone who enjoys singing. Experienced singers are equally welcome.
We are looking for people who are keen to contribute to the team effort; who are able to commit to reasonably regular attendance at rehearsals, and who would enjoy both the musical and social life that the choir offers. Please ask for our Members Handbook for further information or contact Graham Steen on 01469 530103
The Choir are always keen to talk to potential new members and business sponsors. We have several promotional pop-up banners advertising the choir. If you have a public area that you would be willing to allow a banner to be placed in for a few weeks can you please contact Phil Spicksley. Your help would be really appreciated.
